Hi there, welcome back to Life with a Pop! It is crazy to think that a new year is here! 2019 was one of my favorite years and it was my last year being a teenager. I know that the new year has already begun, but I wanted to take time after the busy holiday season to really think about what I want to work on. Last year, I wrote a blog post about my resolutions and I found it helpful to have them written out and put into the world. Being able to look back at it held me more accountable throughout the year. Now it is time to put my 2020 New Year’s Resolutions into place!
Stop stressing over what I can’t control
I have the tendency to want to make things better right away, even if it isn’t possible. My goal this year is to not stress over what I can’t control. Whether that is someone’s attitude or actions towards me or even just little day to day things. This also includes not stressing over things happening to other people. I have a big tendency to want to fix things for other people, even when it isn’t my place to say anything at all! Stress is the worst so if I can minimize it, I want to!
Believe in myself
This probably sounds so cliché but I really want to do this. I’ve noticed in the last year I’ve become more confident in certain areas. But I still sell myself short on a lot of things. I need to trust my instincts, my knowledge and who I am to make decisions. I’m going to stop doubting myself when I know I’m doing the right thing and make my decisions with confidence. This will also help with pushing aside fears that may sway what I’m doing.
Be on my phone less and be outside more
I think I do a good job of putting my phone down when I’m with other people. I try my best to be in the moment when I’m new places or with people. But when I’m alone I immediately reach for my phone and this is a habit I really want to break. If it’s possible to be outside, I’m going to make an effort to choose that. Nothing is disappearing on my phone, so it can wait!
Stop apologizing when it isn’t necessary
This was on my resolution list last year and I do think I’ve worked on it. But apparently this is a harder habit to break than I realized! That’s why it is back on my 2020 New Year’s Resolutions list. One of my best friends still continually “yells” at me when I apologize for unnecessary things. This goes hand in hand with feeling guilt and I don’t want to feel that this year. It puts too much pressure on myself for unnecessary things and I don’t need that!
Become more educated on global news
I’m most excited about this 2020 New Year’s resolution! There is so much going on around the world and sometimes it feels like our news sources don’t care until after the fact. I’m making it my goal to become more educated about what is happening around the world because I think awareness is so important. There is so much going on and I want to know about it!
